Nestled between the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Liberty Farm grows healthy food for local farmers markets and restaurants. Combining the wisdom of the past with the best organic farming practices of today, we grow food that is rich in flavor, affordable in price, and good for the earth.

We farm the old fashioned way like our grandparents and great grandparents did before us. We work the land with a team of Belgian draft horses, rather than tractors. In the spring they plow and disc new fields for grazing and hay, and prepare our vegetable beds. Throughout the summer months they help us make hay and cultivate vegetables.

Having learned farming from Amish folks in Ohio and Pennsylvania, we believe in being faithful stewards of the earth. Vibrant, living soil is the foundation for healthy animals and nutritious vegetables, and we strive to build the soil on our farm so that it is rich in organic matter. We manage the farm using good conservation practices that enhance the soil and help clean the Chesapeake Bay.
